A. de Jong Group wins Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Prize 2009

The A. de Jong Group is the winner of the Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Prize 2009. Together with his employees, Managing Director Albert de Jong fulfils the principle of ‘meaningful entrepreneurship’ in an innovative and environmentally conscious manner, in the words of the jury report.

During the prize-giving ceremony held on 8 March at the Beurs-WTC Rotterdam Managing Director Albert de Jong was presented with a cheque for fifteen thousand euros and a splendid trophy by the winner of the Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Prize 2008, Walter Peteri of the Quooker company.

The jury supports its decision as follows: "“The A. de Jong Group is a family business that started as a shipbuilding yard and shipping company and has grown into a worldwide player with 133 years of experience. The company consists of several business units, each of which possesses specific know-how in the area of refrigeration and heating engineering and its installation. The focus is on innovations in niche markets. According to the Rotterdam Entrepreneur’s Prize jury the A. de Jong Group stands for ‘environmentally conscious growth, cherishes traditional values with a future-oriented vision and fulfils an important function in its surrounding area by encouraging VMBO (preparatory secondary vocational education) students to go into engineering. In short: a company that Rotterdam (and the Netherlands) can be proud of!”"

The other companies nominated were EclipseIT and MDG Techniek Holland B.V., both from Capelle aan den IJssel.
