"The Ronald McDonald Centre Only Friends in Amsterdam is the first professional sports centre in Europe which is especially designed for disabled young people up to the age of 25. The facilities consist of two sports fields and a 178 x 32 metre building with gyms, a swimming pool and a play area. Volker Wessels adopted this project during the construction phase and Wessels Zeist implemented it. RMCOF and Wessels Zeist searched for partners for each component. De Jong was approached for the air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems. We were looking for a partner with a flexible attitude; we had no specifications, only performance requirements and question marks. Every party in this project had to take on responsibility, do some of the thinking and work within a certain budget. De Jong was exceptionally enthusiastic and saw possibilities. This was fortunate, because they themselves also had to approach suppliers for materials for Ronald McDonald Centre Only Friends." |
